NYSA SILK was born in the Dharmavaram silk trade. Jaya’s father entered the town’s silk markets at fifteen and has spent fifty-five years in the trade — knowing the weavers by name, reading silk by hand, recognising true zari on sight. Jaya carries that legacy online, which means every saree from us comes with provenance we can personally vouch for.
The Dharmavaram signature is its border. Where other South Indian silks favour temple motifs, Dharmavaram is famed for especially broad, solid gold zari borders and an interlock-woven pallu dense with brocade. The body is pure mulberry silk in deep jewel tones, and the drape sits a touch softer than a heavy Kanchipuram — beautiful for long ceremonies.
Because we buy through two generations of loom-floor relationships, you pay for the weaver’s craft, not a chain of middlemen. Every saree we list is Silk Mark certified by the Silk Mark Organisation of India, so the purity of the silk and the truth of the zari are documented, never assumed.

A Dharmavaram silk saree is handwoven in Dharmavaram, Andhra Pradesh, on traditional pit looms from pure mulberry silk. It is celebrated for its broad, solid gold zari borders, richly patterned interlocked-weave pallus, and deep jewel-toned bodies. Dharmavaram silk is among the most prized of South Indian wedding silks.
Both are pure-silk, real-zari South Indian weaves, but they come from different towns and have distinct signatures. Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu) is known for its korvai contrast borders and temple motifs. Dharmavaram (Andhra Pradesh) is known for its especially broad gold borders, the interlock-weave pallu, and brocade-rich designs. Dharmavaram silks often read as a touch softer in drape.

Dry clean only, and sparingly. Air the saree after each wear, fold it in soft muslin, and store it flat in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Refold every few months so the creases do not set, and avoid plastic covers, which trap humidity and dull the silk over time.
